Sometimes the best laid plans just don?t work out, and by no fault of my own. It?s totally okay. My goals have given me good focus these past couple months and I am doing better at being intentional with my time. Sometimes I do all that I can to make something work, and it still doesn?t. But despite that, a lot of my goals did happen. Hooray!
For January and February, here were some of my goals?
- practice keyboard every day (I practiced more, but not every day)
do a time audit for one weektrack the money I spendfinish my quiltclean out my recipesfind a hummus recipe I like, so I don?t have to buy it anymoremake homemade hot dogs and sausagemake lotion bars- grow oyster mushrooms (from a kit this time? I tried but our house is too dry. Time for a new plan.)
figure out an indoor clothes drying system- spin 2 skeins of wool on my drop spindle
- meet with my friend to work on genealogy (I tried but she wasn?t able to meet)
- find a snowshoe race (I found a race and when I arrived, ready to run, discovered I was the only runner- everyone else just wanted to walk. Grr! I did my best.)
- build bed frames for the kids and a new kitchen table (I have plans and a supply list done)
make a plan for our entry renovation- go on one date with John (We have plans for a date, but haven?t gone yet.)
do an experiment in saying yes more (especially to the kids)catch up Sammy and Ben Ben?s scrapbooksorder perennials and garden seeds
These are the books I read?
- Eco-Mind by Francis Moore Lappe
- Eats, Shoots, and Leaves by Lynn Truss
- When We Were the Kennedys by Monica Wood
- Happier at Home by Gretchin Rubin
- Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott
- Homeopathy: Beyond Flat Earth Medicine by Timothy R. Dooley
- Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller
- Wrecked by Jeff Goins
Lots of great things happened the last couple of months. I have been skate skiing and both kids are loving cross country skiing. They are improving on ice skates and I?m getting better too, just by being on the ice more. I have been intentionally having more people over for meals, something that does not come naturally to me. We are moving forward on more home renovation plans after taking a break for a couple of months. We have been enjoying the snow and winter activities.
I am excited for the next couple of months and these goals?
- finish a cross stitch I started 3 years ago
- roast my own coffee beans
- sew 4 more dress up outfits for the kids
- complete our will
- 2 long runs
- spring cleaning of our house
- catch up our family scrapbook (I?m 2 years behind)
- try to meet up with my friend for genealogy
- set up a better outdoor composting system so I can collect for other people
- date night with John
- try my drop spindle
In addition to these, I want to focus on enjoying our days, doing fun things as a family, and checking out a few new-to-us places.
How was your February? Any fun things on the horizon or new goals?
